Owners of The Cottage, John + Laura Wolfe, have officially opened the doors on their newest restaurant in downtown Newburyport, MA on Water Street this past Tuesday September 15th!
The atmosphere is best described as "Suburban Industrial" with hints of the downtown city lifestyle mixed with a friendly neighborhood restaurant + bar. Serving up a creative menu by our Executive Chef Peter Hansen, The Poynt menu offers a touch of a variety of cuisines and cultures and has a little something for everyone. You will find everything from sushi rolls to Wood-Fired Pizza + New York Steak to Oysters on the Half Shell.
The Poynt was designed by popular Boston designer, Taniya Nayak, who also designs for The Food Network's television show "Restaurant Impossible". Keeping the integrity of the building was a main objective in the construction and designwork. This includes nods to the Atkinson Building's history. Most recently the space was Farley's Men's Clothing Store, which can be found painted on a restored brick wall in the restaurant. The cloth used to make the booths also made from men's shirt cloth materials. Before that, the space was an old hardware store, which can be remembered through the old pipe footrests in our bar area, and industrial style lighting!
John and Laura are thrilled to have opened a restaurant location in their hometown of Newburyport, and we hope to see many new and familiar faces alike!
Welcome to The Poynt!
